Since it confirmed Canada’s first case of COVID-19, the National Microbiology Lab in Winnipeg has received $2 billion in COVID-19 funding from the federal government. It’s spending some of that money on developing vaccines aimed at new variants of concern and helping communities identify the presence of coronavirus in wastewater.
