Pabineau First Nation elder Gilbert Sewell welcoming the first signs of spring in 2020. Sewell died peacefully in his home near Bathurst on the morning of Sunday, March 21, 2021.

Mi’kmaw Elder Gilbert Sewell, known for his dedication to language instruction and Mi’kmaw culture, has died. He was 81.
