2019 derailment in central Alberta caused by undetected rail fracture, investigation reveals

The 75-car, mixed freight train operated by Canadian Pacific Railway was travelling near Blackfalds, Alta., on Sept. 27, 2019 when an undetected fracture in the rail caused the track to break up. Nine cars carrying petroleum products derailed.
