Federal funding to help former GGs set up charitable foundations is discretionary

Ottawa has allocated $30 million over the past 15 years to sustain charitable foundations created by governors general once they leave office. But the Prime Minister’s Office won’t say if the current government would offer the same support should Julie Payette choose to set up a foundation of her own.
